Mary Eileen McDonnell born 28 April 1952 is a famous American stage acting, film and television actress. Most famously, she is known for her role as the protagonist in the television show Stands With A Fist in Dances with Wolves. Other important characters include the role of President Laura Roslin from Battlestar Galactica and the president's wife from Independence Day as well as Donnie's mother in Donnie's Darko.
